Charley H. Myers, II was born on February 16, 1935 in Ringgold, Louisiana. He came from a large, blended family with 12 siblings. He has four siblings by his parents, Charley, Sr. and Deborah (both deceased). His four siblings are Maxine Bennett, Luther (deceased), Leila (deceased) and Arnold (deceased). He graduated from high school in Louisiana and received a scholarship to Southern University but did not attend so he could financially help his parents as his siblings continued their education.
Through his union with Marie Lang of Louisiana, he had three daughters, Melony, Dianna and Marlenia who he referred to as the “Original Charley’s Angels”. Over the almost 60 years he lived in California, he was known as “Pops” to many young people who loved and admired him for his wisdom, humor and advice. Charley began working at a young age on the farm he grew up on and continued working in various capacities until he retired. He worked as a bus driver (school bus and public transportation), mechanic, autobody repair and tow truck business owner. He loved listening to the blues, classic soul, gospel and jazz. His favorite classic cars included Cadillacs, Corvettes, Mustangs and Oldsmobile.
Charley peacefully passed away on October 19, 2020. He is survived by his wife Marie, children Melony, Dianna, Marlenia, and Rondel (Ramona), grandchildren, sister Maxine Bennett, nieces and nephews, and sisters-in-law, Gladys Myers and Beverly Myers. He is also survived by the many extended family members and friends who cherished their memories of him.
