Charles Richard Salazar May 9, 1938 - May 9, 2011 Charles (Chuck) Richard Salazar, a 64-year resident of Hawthorne, passed away in Torrance on Monday, May 9, 2011, with his family at his bedside. Born in Whittier, California, Chuck was 73 when he died. He attended high school at Lynwood Seventh-day Adventist Academy through the 11th grade and transferred and graduated from Leuzinger High School in Lawndale, CA in 1956. Chuck worked for Builder's Emporium, Automatic Signals, and Eldon Toys prior to becoming a truck driver for Direct Delivery Service. He drove a truck as a freight forwarder for over 20 years before his retirement. Throughout his life Chuck was an avid sports fan, loving all types of sports, but his greatest love was NASCAR racing. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents Felix and Velia (Flores) Salazar; sister Margaret Bull; and brother Timothy Salazar. He is survived by his loving wife Sally of over 52 years; four children, Sheri (John) Lydon, Lori Aurentz, Rick Salazar, and Dan (Christine) Salazar; eight grandsons, Brian, Sean, and Kevin Lydon, Joshua and Phillip Hines, Karl Aurentz, and Payton and Braden Salazar; one brother Steve Salazar and one sister Cindy Salazar. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service and celebration of Chuck's life at Rice Mortuary, 5310 Torrance Blvd, Torrance, on Saturday May 21, 2011, at 3:00 pm. A reception is immediately following in the Rice Lighthouse Reception Room.
