  1. candle 7“…the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.” (John 1:5 KJV)

Brother Charles was blessed with the ability to bring light to dark situations through his easy going presence, good humor, and infectious smile.

  6. candle 4Charles was so much more than our protector. He was the sunshine that brightened the day. No matter how crazy life seemed to be, he always made me smile when I arrived at work. In fact, he made me dance. We had a routine each morning in that he would come from around the desk and start dancing so naturally I would have to join. He made all of our troubles just seem to melt away. So saddened by his passing. Heaven must have truly needed this Angel.

  15. candle 7I lost a friend. The smiles and the greetings will be missed. It will never be same again. Your familiar loud voice with excitement, “Big Boss!” every time you see me entering our hospital makes me feel special. I remember every time there is a Code Gray, you are always present to intervene and Charles has an ability to pacify the mood.
There is a quote. “I shall pass this way but once; any good that I can do or any kindness I can show to any human being; let me do it now. Let me not defer nor neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again.”
You left us a beautiful legacy Charles….. see you in Heaven.

He will truly be missed.
    Mary

  20. candle 2To the family of Sir Charles,
His impact on this world by the love that he shared is insurmountable. Anyone that was fortunate enough to meet Sir Charles will never forget him. As he treated everyone with respect and dignity regardless of your plight in life or title. Sir Charles understood we are more than our titles. His integrity was a blessing to be around , his dedication and commitment working two fulltime jobs while giving 100% to all and making everyone feel special is astonishing. You are an inspiration. You affectionately called me Boss however we both know Sir Charles was the CEO of himself. I was one of the fortunate ones to have worked with you. You will forever be missed.

  21. candle 7You were always showing your love to us. You were always so genuine and a force to reckon with. Rest in peace, Charles.

  22. candle 2Charles, may you rest and peace. You were truly Mr. Kool. I loved coming into the hospital and seeing your smiling face. You were always smiling and happy. Your nick name should have been Mr. Happy. I will miss you. I would like your family to know that you were one of those people who made a difference in peoples lives. You made me feel safe and I always looked forward to seeing you and your positive attitude.

  23. candle 6We have lost a great soul and Heaven gained a unique Angel. Thank you Charles for making a difference is this world. I greatly miss you and your big heart and of course your silliness. We were blessed to have you as a friend and cheated to lose you to soon.

I’m deeply sad because you’re not over here with us in the flesh, but I celebrate your life with the Lord!
We will see each other one day “My Friend.”
My deep condolences to Charles’s family, you had a great family member among you!
I’m praying the Lord gives you all peace in your hearts only time will help to heal some of your pain.

  26. candle 2Thank you to Charles for always caring for our staff and patients. You were a wonderful caretaker and we wish your family peace.

  27. candle 1I still can not fathom that you are gone. You will never be forgotten, Charles. You were such a beautiful soul and such a comedian. Every shift was great when we worked together. All the laughs, advice, and tough love, and jokes are memories I’ll carry forever. Rest in paradise xoxo

  28. candle 1Charles was a beam of sunshine whenever I come to work. He has a welcoming presence and will always say something to make you feel good for the day. When we see him responding to our Code Gray calls, we are assured that our safety is priority and he did not “play around” with challenging patients. And he doesn’t leave the unit until he is sure that the staff are at ease. When my daughter came a volunteer at GSH, Charles was a “stern uncle”. Aside from guiding her on welcoming visitors at the front desk, he gave her lectures about life and finishing school without distractions. My daughter cried when I shared the news of Charles’ passing…

We grieve with all of Charles’ family and friends. He will be remembered and prayed for. Rest well, my friend.

  29. candle 7Charles, I will miss that friendly smile and warm laugh so so much.
You were an absolute treasure and we were truly blessed to have had you in our lives.
    You will be missed.
You and your family are in my prayers.

  30. candle 8Charles was always a pleasure to be around. His smile and kindness will certainly be missed.
May God Bless his soul and give him well deserved rest. May God grant him the peace that passes human understanding. His job is finished down here and he is ready for his next assignment.

    God Bless,
    Rosemary Boston

  31. candle 2So very sorry to say Goodbye Charles,
    “MY FRIEND.”
All who knew you will remember you by your smile, kindness, politeness and your laugh. You leave behind your family, and so many friends and coworkers that are blessed to have known you.
Charles you are AN ESSENTIAL WORKER.
All at GSH will truly miss you.

    My Deepest Sympathy

  32. candle 7Good Bye my friend. It is a sad day today to see your casket go down. I still don’t want to believe it. But you officially earned your angel wings. God couldn’t wait one more day to take you back home. Your journey ended here but I am sure your journey will be so much more amazing now as you only gave so much love and respect to every one here on earth. Say Hi to my mom please. She already knows to watch over you in heaven. You will never be forgotten.
    FO LIFE

  33. candle 7Dear Charles,

Thank you for always making ER feel like home and safe when I come to work. May you rest in peace.

  34. candle 3Thank you Charles, you rushed up to help us in 7-North recently, and likely prevented a physical altercation. We will miss your good humor and dedication.

  35. candle 7Charles I just found out today about your passing and I am truly heartbroken. Like so many have said…your smile and wonderful happy personality will be missed by all. Thank you for taking care of us at Cudahy.

  36. candle 7My heart aches for the family of Officer Charles. He kept watch over us all in the emergency department and kept the staff and the patients safe. He had kind eyes and a genuine smile and stood with us as we did battle against the failures and ills of our world. The emergency department is not an easy place to be or work but he brought peace, calm, security and laughter to us every day. I can only imagine what he gave to his family and friends.
