It is with great sadness we say good-bye to a dear friend, father and grandfather in the passing of Charles Melough of Torrance, California in his 87th year. Loving husband of Verna his wife of 57 years, father of daughters Lynn and Janine, and son Timothy and dear grandfather of Jason and Kevin. Charles was born in County Down, Ireland on April 24, 1921 to John Melough and Cecelia Ward. He was preceded in death/in passing by four brothers and four sisters. Charles served in World War II in the British 8th Army under command of General Montgomery from 1939 to 1945. He moved to Toronto, Canada, in 1947 where he later met and married his wife Verna in November 1950. In 1958, the young couple, along with so many others of that era moved to Southern California, where they went to work in the space industry. In the meantime, they had three children—two born in Toronto Canada and one in Southern California. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 13th from 5:00 to 9:00 PM with the rosary at 7:15 PM. This will be held at White & Day Colonial Mortuary, 901 Torrance Boulevard, Redondo Beach, California where friends can come to pay respect to Charles for the last time. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 14th at 11:00 AM at St. Catherine's Laboure Church, 3846 Redondo Beach Boulevard, Torrance (Redondo Beach Boulevard and Ainsworth in North Torrance).
