Charles J. Proben, a 42 year resident of Torrance, passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2003 in Los Angeles. Born in New York City, NY, Charles was 65. He was an auditor for Ticor Insurance Co. for many years and an avid collector of LP records. Charles is survived by his brother; John Proben of Torrance, CA, nephews; Matthew and Christopher Moran both of Torrance, CA. Visitation will be on Thursday October 23 from 4-8pm with a vigil service at 7 pm the same evening at Rice Mortuary, 5310 Torrance Blvd., Torrance, CA.. A mass of Christian burial will be held a St James Catholic Church in Redondo Beach on Friday October 24 at 10 am. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City.

Charles was a classmate of mine at St. Andrew Avellino elementary school in Flushing, NY. I just learned about his passing almost 15 years ago by researching his name online.
