Catherine "Cathy" Deane Setz passed away peacefully on the morning of Friday, March 30th, 2012 in Pasadena, CA. Cathy was born in Santa Monica, CA and she was a lifetime resident of the South Bay. Because she had a wonderfully compassionate heart, Cathy was liked by everyone who met her, and loved by everyone who knew her. Unfortunately her heart stopped beating that day, and she departed us to be with God and her mother Terry Setz. Cathy lived her life simply. She loved children, and in so many ways, was really just a child at heart herself. Her magnetic personality and sincere interest in people drew them to her naturally. She loved the beach, and she was also an antique collector. She worked as a personal assistant to many clients in the South Bay helping them with babysitting, running errands and many other tasks. She also worked as a loading and unloading supervisor for Federal Express. Cathy was extremely fond of animals and often enjoyed watching the dolphins out in the Bay. She had two dogs and two cats, but would probably take in more if she could. She is survived by her daughter, Alina, her father, Arnold, and her brother, Michael. She is also survived by her devoted and loyal boyfriend, Robert Scott Gibbons. We will all miss her so much. Services in celebration of Cathy's life will be held in private with family and close friends. Please go to Rice Mortuary's website
