Catherine Chardon

Catherine Chardon, resident of Palos Verdes Estates. Fiercely proud and independent to the very end, Catherine Chardon was born in 1914 in Plainfield, New Jersey. She peacefully entered into eternal rest on April 21, 2012. She was the third of eleven children. After graduating from North Plainfield High School, she worked at the Western Union Telegraph Company and became a Council Woman for the Republican Party. On her job she was very flexible and detailed oriented and was soon asked to work at the Pentagon. After a few years she was transferred from Washington D.C. to California. There she met and married the love of her life, Albert Chardon, who predeceased her in 1967. Catherine found great solace as a long-time member of St. Lawrence Martyr Catholic Church. With a smile in her heart, she loved to dance, sing and play bingo. Her sister, Mary Huff, from San Jose, California, survives her. She has many nephews, nieces and extended family. A simple service will be held at Rice Mortuary, 5310 Torrance Blvd., Torrance, CA on Wednesday April 25 at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Catherine's name to Providence Trinity Care Hospice or to "No One Dies Alone" at Providence Little Company of Mary Hospital in Torrance.
