April 27, 1938 ~ February 13, 2019
It is with great sadness that our family must announce the passing of our mother, Carmen “Connie” Vasquez, age 80, who peacefully left us on the early morning hours of Wednesday, February 13, 2019, due to a sudden heart attack as she slept, in the comfort of her home. Mama Connie, as most of her family knew her, was born on April 27, 1938, growing up in a small town in El Salvador. She loved her country, and held on to her culture, but was eternally grateful to be able to safely raise her children in the United States.
Mama Connie endured decades of pain due to illness, but she has finally found the gift of eternal comfort and has reunited with her loving Lord. A devoted catholic, spiritually strong woman, who had faced difficult times in her life, among them, the loss of her mother Maria, husband Virgilio, and son, Eduardo. However, she lived life at its fullest when she could. As a human being, she embraced her own flaws, attributes, and talents (especially in telling jokes) in an attempt to make you smile. That was her way of letting you know she meant no harm with her no-nonsense honesty. However, always masking her emotions and sensitivities with the demeanor of a lioness. A child at heart at times, she loved to collect miniatures, nicknacks, and hats. She loved to cook, and had a great sense of style. She possessed a heart of gold to uncover, if you were fortunate enough to obtain her trust; became one of your major critics if you did not.
A loving sister, wife, mom, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend and human being, whose light has transcended to her own beautiful paradise. Her laughter was music to our ears and will forever echo in our minds, in the form of her favorite melodies and songs. Mama Connie leaves behind; daughter, Annie, two sons, Cesar and Salvador, twelve grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren, whom she loved and saw as the lights of her soul. She also leaves behind a loving son-in-law and daughters-in-law, who blessed her with a continuing legacy of creative, conscientious, kind, generous, God loving human beings, whom we pray will make a difference in this world, on behalf of mama Connie. A loving and devoted guardian angel.
