Bruce Clyde

bruce clyde
Bruce William Clyde, a 33 year resident of Torrance, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 14, 2011 in La Jolla, CA. Born in Chicago, IL, Bruce was a member of St. Peter and Paul Church in Wilmington, CA 4 and Nativity Catholic Church in Torrance, CA. Bruce met his wife Lauren in September of 1988; they were married 10 months later. Bruce's passion for the LORD was expressed in many ways. God was central to his life and all that he did. He read the Bible many times through but mostly he met the challenge to live its pervading truth of loving and serving more each day as time and health would permit. He strove to surrender to God's will and examine his thoughts, words and actions daily. His wife Lauren Clyde of 22 years discovered in Bruce the work of a loving God who had tried him, shaped him and molded him through the trials he endured in his life. The joy and pain of growing in love and acceptance of each other then, having to say goodbye is bittersweet. He is also survived by his son Christian Clyde, daughter Angela Clyde and son Maximilian Clyde, all of Torrance; along with his mother Kaye Youtz, an accomplished artist, and her husband Robert Youtz of Black Mountain, NC; his brother Scott Clyde and wife Jeannine and their three children, Christopher, Jonathan and Laura; and sister Carol Ball and her daughter Allison. A gathering of family and friends will be held Wednesday, October 19, at Rice Mortuary from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM with Vigil services beginning at 7:00 PM in the chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, October 20 at 1:00 PM at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Wilmington. Burial will follow with procession to Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Palos Verdes. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to priestsforlife.org, Pro-Life America (J.T. Finn), or Pregnancy Help Center 1311 Crenshaw Blvd., Suite A, Torrance, CA 90501 310-320-8976. Please sign the guestbook at www.dailybreeze.com/obits.

  1. Dear Family and Friends, We have been so very blessed to know Bruce Clyde and his beautiful family for almost 14 years! My family and I are very thankful to God for his life and that we had an opportunity to share in it for the time in which God gave us. Bruce was always very kind, loving, charitable and had a great sense of humor. Even when he was sick and suffering terribly, he managed to to express his sense of humor. What a testament to his love for God and to those whom he knew! Absolutely an amazing and wonderful person! Bruce will be missed tremendously. Our hearts and continued prayers go out to the repose of his soul and to his precious family of whom we love and hold very dear to our hearts. Sincerely, The Castillo Family, Lori, Nigel and Julia Castillo
