Bonnie Lou Burns of Rancho Palos Verdes was born on September 8, 1935 in Chicago, Illinois. She passed away on Monday, February 17, 2014 in San Pedro, California. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Mildred Reed of Farmer City, Illinois.
Bonnie is survived by Robert L, Burns, her husband of 40 years; children Lori Van Cleave of Torrance, California and R. Scott McElroy of Reno, Nevada; grandson J. D. (Erin)Van Cleave of Lake Havasu City, Arizona; granddaughter Christy Michelle(Jesse) Ornelas of Cypress, California; and great-grandson Mason James Van Cleave of Lake Havasu City, Arizona. Bonnie was preceded in death by her son Patrick Allen McElroy of Costa Mesa, California.
Bonnie was very active with her children when they were young, holding several positions in the TUSD PTA's and Girl Scouts of America. She then continued on with the City of Torrance as Traffic Commissioner.
As her children grew older, she re-entered the banking world and was promoted to Vice President prior to retiring.
Bonnie loved traveling, her two favorite places were Alaska and Pismo Beach, California, where her and Bob owned a second home.
And last but not least were Bonnie (and Bob's) love for animals, especially cats.
In lieu of flowers, donations are requested in Bonnie's name to Best Friends Animal Society.
