Beverly
Harris, Beverly Arbutis, a long-time resident of the South Bay, passed away on Wednesday, August 29, 2007 after suffering a head injury from a fall. Beverly was born in Rittman, OH, and was an extremely young and active 82 when she died. Beverly and her husband ran a successful jewelry store, Anthony's Jewelers in Hermosa Beach for over 20 years, while raising a family in Torrance. She was valedictorian of her high school, and was very interested in history and world events. She was a very sharp and classy lady, who will be remembered by all as very organized. Beverly was active in volunteering at her Senior Center in Redondo Beach, and ran the exercise program at her apartment complex, Heritage Point. She was very healthy and fit, always eating right and walking 3 miles every day. Beverly was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Harris, her father, James Bain, mother Lora Bain, sister, Alberta Knoelke, brother Jim Bain, and her dear friend and constant companion, Gladys Morse. Beverly is survived by her two daughters, Deanna Harwood of Rolling Hills Estates, California, and Laurie Harris of New York, New York; her sisters, Winifred Berke of Clovis, California, and Gloria Miller of Fresno, California; and one grandchild, Jennifer Brennan. She is also survived by her two sons-in-law, Dr. Randall Harwood and William Brennan, and her brothers-in-law Gene Berke and Roy Knoelke. Beverly will rejoin the love of her life, Tony, during a private ceremony at Pacific Crest Cemetery in Redondo Beach.
