Bernice Lebens was born in Luverne, Minnesota on January 8, 1915, and passed away in Torrance, CA on August 8, 2010. She married Art in Minnesota and lived on a farm for 5 years. They moved to Los Angeles, raised their family, then retired on the Columbia River in Oregon. They loved to square dance, the Charleston, and old time dancing. They served their many guests from their large garden and herd of beef cattle. She made the best apple pies and won a blue ribbon at the County Fair. They spent their last years in the loving care of their daughter and son-in-law Nancy and Tom Spears in Torrance. She was preceded in death by Art two years ago. She was known for her lively energy, warmth, and sense of humor. She will be dearly missed by her many family and friends. A viewing will be held at McMillan & McCormick Mortuary in Gardena on Sunday , August 15, 2010 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. The Vigil and Rosary Service will be held at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church on the same day at 7:00 PM. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church on Monday, August 16, 2010 at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City.
