Beatrice
Beatrice Mary Elizabeth Thompson "Bea" Jan 13, 1929- Oct 4, 2008 A native of Pennsylvania, Bea was born in the beautiful Pocono Mountains. She was the second of three children born to Gordon and Anna Kinney. Bea was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Ann. After meeting, falling in love and marrying the love of her life David Thompson, they spent their lives together living in California, where they raised their three children: David, Cyndi & Denise. They lived in many different cities while David pursued his career as a civil engineer. They settled in Manhattan Beach in 1974 where he eventually retired as City Manager in 1990. Bea is survived by her devoted husband of 58 years, David Thompson, loving children David Thompson III of Scotts Valley, Cyndi Burica of Redwood Valley and Denise Thompson of Ocean Beach. She also has two grandchildren David Thompson IV and Jennifer Webster, and three great grandchildren Fiona, Dylan and Hailey. Her younger brother Bill lives in Florida. Our dear Bea was a quiet person who loved her family, animals and the sunshine. She spent many happy hours crocheting, reading, doing puzzles and supporting her church. She loved to spend time with her children and enjoyed mini vacations in Redwood Valley and Ocean Beach. Bea took comfort in her faith and was a devoted member of American Martyrs Church, working with both the Altar Society and the 55 Plus Clubs. Bea was always quick to smile and had a desire to be helpful. She will forever be in our hearts. May her spirit be free and at peace. A Memorial Vigil will be held on Saturday, November 8th at 1:00 PM at White & Day Mortuary, 3215 N. Sepulveda Blvd., Manhattan Beach, CA 90266. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Reefcheck.org or Humane Society of Los Angeles.
