Hebson, Barbara Florence McCollum Barbara Hebson, an 18 year resident of Palm Desert, CA, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2009. Born January 24, 1929 in Long Branch, New Jersey to Harry and Gertrude (Mariner) McCollum, she spent her formative years in Evanston, Ill. She attended College in Florida before returning to Evanston where she met and married her loving husband of 58 years, Bud Hebson. Together, they relocated to Torrance, CA in 1950 where she started her family. She embraced her role as homemaker providing a loving home for her children and their friends. As a convert, she was a founding member of St. Lawrence Martyr Parish working tirelessly alongside Monsignor Patrick Collins. She and Bud were Charter Members of Rolling Hills Country Club. They enjoyed traveling, especially with their extended family at Farmer's Insurance Group as well as with their neighborhood friends. She was a loving and wonderful wife, mother, Nana, and friend. Barbara is survived by her sister, Gertrude McCollum Navas, half brother, Leonard McCollum; sons, Mark (Jane) Hebson, Mike (NancyJo) Hebson, Matt (Leah) Hebson; and five grandchildren Graham, Hayley, John, Lauren and Layne Hebson, all of Torrance, as well as many loving nieces and nephews. Her dear husband Bud preceded her in death March 21, 2009. She is also preceded by her parents and brother Harry McCollum. A Rosary will be held Monday, April 6th at 7pm at McCormick Mortuary, Redondo Beach. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday April 7th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Lawrence Martyr Church.
