Barbara Anne Boyd
August 5, 1943 - December 3, 2018
Barbara passed away quietly in her sleep on December 3, 2018. She was born in Orange, California to Harold and Anita Boyd both of whom preceded her in death. She was the beloved sister of Mark (Patti) Boyd and Midge (Greg) Anunson, all from Redondo Beach. Barb was also aunt to Marc Boyd of San Francisco and Molly (Art) Amloyan and great aunt to Luke and Ava Amloyan from Redondo Beach.
Barbara grew up in Los Feliz and attended Mother of Good Counsel Grammar School and John Marshall High School. She graduated from Scripps College with a degree in Education followed by a Masters. Barb taught 8th Grade Social Studies in the Glendora School District for 34 years. At Sandburg Middle School she was a two-time mentor teacher and served many years as the Social Studies Department Chair and GTA representative.
After Barbara retired, she moved to Redondo Beach to be closer to her family. She maintained a very active life. She enjoyed volunteering at Torrance Memorial Hospital where she had 2600 hours. She was also a Member of the Redondo Beach Women’s Club and was a Eucharistic Minister to the sick. Barb was an avid sports fan. She knew the batting averages of most Dodgers as well as stats for each Laker. She loved to go to the Dodger games with her brother and nephew. Her favorite retirement activity was traveling, in fact she was packing for a trip to Asia when God called her home.
Barb was always doing something for someone whether family member or friend. She was loved by all who knew her. Her beautiful spirit will remain in all of us.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 10 a.m. at St. Lawrence Martyr Catholic Church in Redondo Beach.
