Ayleen L Renke died peacefully on November 10, 2011. She was 99 years old. Ayleen was born in Aarhus, Denmark on December 6, 1911. She immigrated to the United States in 1913 and was very proud to be a naturalized citizen of the United States. Ayleen arrived in Redondo Beach in 1925 and happily resided in the same home for almost 60 years. She was extremely active in Redondo Beach community services and her accomplishments included: 1964 Woman of the Year form the Redondo Beach Chamber of Commerce, Past President of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 184, President Emeritus of Redondo Beach Woman's club, Past President of Salvation Army Auxiliary, Board of Directors Salvation Army and she received the Salvation Army "Others" award in 1985. She gave her time tirelessly decorating tables, making doll clothes and teddy bears and chairing the annual doll tea for more than 20 years. Ayleen is survived by her son John (Jack) and his wife Jane; granddaughters Pamela Renke Lemkin and, Karen Renke Frye (Dan); grandson John C. Renke (Peggy) and her cherished great grandchildren Jason, Beth, Tim, Ted and Tori . A celebration of Ayleen's life will be held on Sunday, November 20 from 2-5pm. Enjoyed the children of my child and now the children of his children and their children. I have been blessed. So grieve not for me. We love you and will miss you "Big Grandma".
