Augustine 'Gus'
Gus Franchi passed away Friday, April 22, 2011. He was 93 years old. He is preceded by his wife Margie of 62 years. He is survived by his sister Marcie Reinhardt, and 4 brothers Frank, Louis, Alex, and Albert Franchi. He has 25 nieces and nephews. He was born on December 20, 1917 in Illinois. He was a WWII Air Force Veteran involved in 4 major campaigns. He lived in his beloved home on Maria Ave. in Redondo Beach for 72 years. Every Memorial Day, he organized a neighborhood block party involving up to 200 families. He was a head usher at St. James Catholic Church where he faithfully attended for over 60 years. He was a sales manager for Stewart Warner Co. and Wiley Co. for over 60 years. He was also an active member of the local Elks Lodge and Knights of Columbus and volunteered in the voting polls for over 30 years. Come celebrate this wonderful life with us. The viewing will be held on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at McCormick Mortuary between 5 pm and 8 pm with the Vigil Service beginning at 7 pm. The funeral service is on April 28, 2011 at 10:00 am at St. James Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, send donations to St. James Catholic Church in Redondo Beach.
