LEONE, Arthur Joseph, a resident of Palos Verdes Estates for nearly fifty years, passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2008, at his home. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Art was 87 when he died. He was a long standing member of St. Lawrence Martyrs Catholic Church in Redondo Beach. Art was an infantry officer in the U.S. Army during World War II and served in Germany where he was wounded, receiving a Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Art received a B.A. Degree in Liberal Arts majoring in Journalism from Duquesne University and a Master in Letters in Industrial Management from the University of Pittsburgh, after which he moved to Los Angeles. His career spanned work with the C.I.A. in the early years followed by many business and administrative positions in the aerospace industry with Northrop and Rockwell International. Among his broad interests were his love of family and spare time in writing and poetry. Art is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Evelyn Anne; a son, Charles Richard and his wife, Sharon; two grandsons, Michael Stephen and his wife, Amanda, and Charles Christopher; one great-grandchild, Abigail; a brother, Bill and his wife, Jane; and nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by two children, Roslyn Anne and Art, Jr. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a Vigil Service starting at 7:00 pm. at McCormick Mortuary in Redondo Beach, CA. Funeral mass will be at 10:00 am on Wednesday, September 10, 2008, at St. Lawrence Martyr's Catholic Church, in Redondo Beach, CA, with interment following at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City, California.
