Scarpiello, Anthony D. of Palos Verdes Estates, passed away in Torrance on November 28, 2003. He was born in Hartford, CT on December 26, 1917. Tony was a long time member of the Knights of Columbus-Order of the Alhambra and served as Grand Knight three times. His last membership was with the Los Crusdaos Council #1990 of Redondo Beach. Anthony was also a sports nut. He was almost selected as a professional baseball player in his youth and later excelled at bowling and held numerous records, awards and trophies. He knew sports statistics as well as many professional announcers. He later became an accomplished golfer in just a short amount of time. Anthony loved to cook and especially loved to watch people eat what he had cooked. In his working life he was a machinist and machine parts salesman for many years, he loved his work and was respected by his co-workers. Anthony is survived by his wife, Bernice Scarpiello, daughter, Nancy Scarpiello; son, Joseph Scarpiello; sister, Rose Gingros; step-daughters, Victoria Melzer and Stephanie Barnes and step-son, Michael Barna. Also left to mourn his passing are many grandchildren. Memorial Catholic Prayer Services will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2003 at 1:00 PM at White & Day Colonial Mortuary, 901 W. Torrance Blvd, Redondo Beach., CA 90277. Private inurnment at Holy Cross Cemetery, Culver City, CA. In lieu of flowers friends may contribute to the American Heart Assn. or to their favorite charity in Tony's memory. Anthony was a devoted husband and concerned father, he will be missed by many.

  1. I was so sorry to hear of Tony\’s passing. He was such a fixture at the Knights of Columbus and remember how nice he always was to our family and friend to my dad, Red Mullen.
