Ann Hanson, a 49-year resident of Hawthorne passed away at home on November 24, 2008. She was 81 years young. Ann was born in Baltimore, the youngest sister of three brothers. After marriage to her husband John, they moved to Detroit for a short time, then to California. Ann and John had two sons, John and Terry. After a very short time as a Kelly Girl at General Motors, she was asked to stay on permanently and stayed there for 29 years as a bookkeeper. Ann loved to tell the story of actor Charlton Heston coming in to buy a truck for himself. Ann did the paperwork and he took Ann and several other office staff out to lunch. Her son Terry went into real estate and Ann loved it too. Together they acquired many properties throughout the South Bay. After her son Terry died at the young age of 36, Ann took over the real estate and managed it with her husband and son John. She really loved her family, real estate and Bingo! She was a bingo player extraordinaire, going to games every day for many years. Ann loved Vegas and visited it many times a year. Ann also travelled the world going to Europe, Thailand, Panama and throughout the USA and Canada. Ann was very active and on the go all the time. Ann is survived by her husband John, son John, daughters-in-law Robin and Susie, grandkids Katie, Larissa, Marty and Nicky. A viewing with reception will be held at Rice Mortuary over 2 days. Monday 12/1 & Tuesday 12/2 from 4-8 PM. The address is 5310 Torrance Blvd, Torrance CA 90503
