Angelina (Angie) Plakos Angie Plakos, of Torrance, died peacefully on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 surrounded by her family. Born July 5, 1922 in Los Angeles, California, Angie spent her life touching the lives of family and friends. She was a devoted wife, mother, yia yia and great yia yia. She was involved with the Greek community in Los Angeles from childhood. She found great spiritual strength in her Greek Orthodox faith and was involved with the ladies' Philoptochos Society at St. Sophia's and St. Katherine's Greek Orthodox Church. Angie is survived by son, Jim (Gail) Plakos of Nevada City, CA; daughter, Christine (Phil) Velderrain of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA; granddaughters, Kathleen Traina of Torrance, Nicole (Tom) Carroll of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA, and Danielle Plakos of Nevada City, CA, and great grandsons Matthew and Brian Carroll of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Nickolas Plakos. A Trisagion Service will be held at Rice Mortuary in Torrance on Thursday, November 17 at 6:00 pm (viewing at 4:00 pm). The funeral service will be held at St. Katherine Greek Orthodox Church in Redondo Beach on Friday, November 18 at 11:00 am with the Macharia following.
