Allene
Allene H. Kistler October 24, 2010 Allene Kistler, a long time resident of the South Bay, passed away last month due to a long illness. Living in Hermosa Beach for the past 36 years, Allene was preceded in death by her husband, Don. "Allie" as she was endearingly known, was born in Redondo Beach, CA but spent most of her childhood in North Hollywood. After graduating from North Hollywood High in the winter of 1951, she went to work for Universal Studios in the mail room and the casting office and had a brief modeling career. During this time, she was chosen to appear in the 1954 Rose Parade as the "Ice Maiden" for Hoffman Television. From there, she went to work at Allied Artists where she met her future husband, Don Kistler. After marrying, Allie and Don moved back to Manhattan Beach to start their family and never left the South Bay. Allie was a devout wife and mother and after raising her children, returned to work. She was a dedicated volunteer at Torrance Memorial Medical Center for many years and since 1994 has volunteered at the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center. Allie supported various charities including: SPARE Animal Rescue and Mouth and Foot Painting Artists to name a few. Allie loved living near the ocean; enjoying the local mountains and travelling the country with her husband Don in their RV. Allie is survived by her four daughters: Donene Kistler; Janine Walker and husband Jeff; Stacey Campbell and husband Tim; Christie Hayes and husband Greg, her nephew Michael Kistler and wife Becky and family, and one grandson, Trevor Hayes. To all that knew and loved her, Allie will be greatly missed. Services in her honor will be held at Rice Mortuary, Torrance, CA on Monday, November 22, 2010 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm, (310) 792-7599. 1. She was the most wonderful complex warm human being & mother any daughter could have. My heart broke when she took her last breath but as I breath I know the life she gave me will heal me! Love you Mom!

  2. Dear Doe and family…My heart and prayers are with you. I hope all is going well for you, my very special friend…Love Yvonne Dear Doe…In our humanness we would simply keep each other forever. In the wisdom only a God can have, that is not permitted. A greater plan and place beckon to your sweet mother and she will dwell there. It is difficult to imagine what such a place would be like but it makes sense to the heart that when your time IS time, your mom will be waiting for you… young and well again. Love Dave

  3. Dear Christie, Greg, Trevor, Donene, Janine, Stacey and Family, There are never the right words to express the loss of someone loved so dearly. My thoughts are with you at this time. I know how close you and mommy were and I can only imagine what you must be going through. You are blessed to all be so close and I know how much she must have loved having you all by her side and how comforting that must have been for her. Your mom was kind and beautiful and I know how much she meant to you all and you all were truly fortunate to have her, such a wonderful mom, in your lives. Please know that I’m praying for you all and love you. See you at the memorial to celebrate such a wonderful woman’s life that forever will be truly missed. Christy Davis

  4. It will be my honor and great pleasure to be a part of a celebration of Allie’s life! I’m sending all of you my love and infinite hugs. Love you!!

  5. My mother was supposed to be with us for alittle while longer…supposed to be. Still unsettled as to how to make sense of the suddeness, the one vision I have that’s clear since the moment she died, is that she’s not dead. Not inside me she’s not. Mom, please come to the table now. It’s time for coffee. I’ll hurry up and get mine. I do love you so! Your daughter, Stacey.

  6. Allie, I know your still with me and your girls. Just keep this in mind when looking over us. We think you are the most witty mom and your love for your children reaches far beyond the Mountains and Earth. Ill always feel your presence and your compassion. I will miss your humor and smile that always lit up the room when you entered. I will always remember that you are still with us, just in your own way.

  7. Dear Kistler’s, I had the privilage of knowing both your mother and father over the years. They were the sweetest people one could ever meet! I miss them both. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

  8. Donene & Stacy: So sorry to hear about your mother’s passing (and your dad’s, which we didn’t hear about until now). I remember how fun she was and how she would cook breakfast for Schwartzie, the doxie pup we gave you. Keeping you in our thoughts, Sharon & Jon

  9. Dear girls, Russ and I knew your dad before he met your mom and remember how happy their meeting made him. We saw each other often after they were married and when you girls were young. Your mom was a lovely, gracious girl and woman and I know how much you all meant to her. She will live always in your memories, and in ours.

  10. Aunt Alli, You will forever be missed and in our hearts. We love you and hope that you are resting peacefully. Love, The Jimenez and The McClain Family

  17. It was a beautiful service. Thank you for allowing me to share it with you, your friends and family. The heavens now have one more star to shine for them.

  18. Dear Mom, It was an honor to help you these past few years. You helped me too and I’ll never forget that. You are the strongest woman I know and your willingness to fight was amazing and inspirational. It’s not quite two months and the space in the house where you used to be is huge. I miss you and love you tons, and tons, and tons. Love from your number one, Dodie
