ALICE M. TRAUTMAN MIKESH
A resident of Torrance, Ca. peacefully passed away on February 26, 2008 at the age of 99. Alice was one of eight children born to Henry and Dora Trautman on February 10, 1909 in Elkton, South Dakota. She married Charles Mikesh on June 30, 1934 in St. Paul, Minnesota. They moved to Hanford, Ca. in 1945 where she became a licensed day care worker and even took in a child to raise. In 1957, a job change took them to San Bernardino, Ca. where she and her husband became Psychiatric Technicians at Patton State Hospital. Upon retirement they moved to Sun City, Ca. where her husband of 47 years passed away in 1981. Alice moved to Redondo Beach, Ca. to live with her daughter Jeralyn until assisted living care was required.
Alice was a Girl Scout Leader, a member of the First Presbyterian Church, and a life long member of over 50 years of Eastern Star. She loved to play cards, travel, read, do crossword puzzles and was an avid Dodger fan. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, twin baby girls, four brothers and one sister. Family members who celebrate Alice's life include two daughters and their husbands Jeralyn and Gary Kirby, Pat and Ken Noland, grandson Kenneth Noland, two sisters Elsie Trautman, age 100, Juanita Engeset, age 95, and many nieces and nephews. We will all remember Alice for her warmth, her smiling eyes, and her kind, loving spirit. Interment will be at Hanford Cemetery in Hanford, Ca,
