Hutchins, Alice Beloved mother, sister & friend passed away Tuesday, March 22 at her home in Torrance, California. Born on March 16, 1929 in Taunton, Massachusetts. The wife of the late Kenneth Hutchins, Alice is survived by five children, daughter Kathleen Salazar of Los Angeles, son Paul (Kerry) Hutchins of Torrance, daughter Carole (Manuel) Guillen of Upland, daughter Karen (Mario) Leone of Torrance and daughter Janice (Kris) Eames of Los Angeles. She is also survived by her sister, Emily (George) Santos of Raynham, Massachusetts. Alice was a loving grandmother to her ten surviving grandchildren - Alex & Carl Salazar, Nicholas & Camryn Hutchins, Garrett, Kyle & Claire Guillen, Blaize & Jade Leone and Trenton Eames. A Torrance resident for over 50 years, Alice was treasured by her family and friends and will be greatly missed. She devoted herself to children and worked at Edison Elementary School for over 30 years. A talented seamstress, quilt maker and creative craft person, her life revolved around her five children and their growing families. Alice was the daughter of Portuguese immigrants and was proud of her heritage and her New England roots. She fought breast cancer for ten years with grace, strength, courage and humor. Viewing will be held at Rice Mortuary, 5310 Torrance Blvd. on Monday,March 28th from 5:00 - 7:00p.m. Rosary from 7:00 - 8:00p.m. Memorial services will be held at 10:00a.m. on Tuesday, March 29th at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 1900 S. Prospect Ave in Redondo Beach, CA. Reception to follow in the church hall. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her memory to the Susan G.
