Alice Crawford, a 42 year resident of El Segundo, passed away in her sleep early in the morning on Sunday, May 17, 2009 at the home she and her husband have resided in since she moved to town. Born in Los Angeles in 1927, Alice was 82 when she died and lived all of her life in Southern California. Alice was a long-time and extremely active member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, having served as President of the Church Council for several terms, head of the altar committee and in many other facets before her health began failing. A graduate of Garfield High School, Alice was a general office worker and lived in East Los Angeles for over twenty years, prior to marrying and moving to Hawthorne, then El Segundo in 1967. She was a long-time Homemaker, actively raising a son, before going back to work at Taylor's Pharmacy on Main Street for over ten years until it was purchased. Alice's family thanks all those in the community who have been involved with Alice's active life in El Segundo as friends, fellow parishioners, acquaintances and customers at the pharmacy. She enjoyed the simple things in life, a good laugh, long-lasting friendships and time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren, who energized and brought joy to her over the past eight years. Alice was very active in the community and was an extremely loving and caring person who readily gave of herself to help others in need. Alice's family extends their heartfelt thanks to all those who provided kind thoughts and support throughout the years of friendship, especially over the past two years as she battled cancer and deteriorating lungs. She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Robert (Bob) Crawford of El Segundo, son, Chris (wife, Kathy) Crawford of Manhattan Beach and grandchildren, Megan and Jack. She was one of five daughters and one son of Alejandro and Carolina Limon, all of whom reside in Southern California. Alice and Bob resided in the same house on West Sycamore for the past 42 years, having purchased it from his parents who lived there since since 1952. A vigil service will be held at St. Anthony Church in El Segundo on Thursday, May 21, 2009 at 5:00 P.M. The funeral Mass will also be held at St. Anthony Church on Friday, May 22, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. A memorial reception will follow at St. Anthony's Hall from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City.

  1. Bob and extended family, Alice was a masterful imp! Always the gleam in her eye that led you to believe there was far more going on in her head than she would like you to know. A classy lady that was never too busy to help others. She will be missed. gen
