De Anda, Ali R., a 25 year resident of San Diego County and former resident of the South Bay, passed away on Thursday, June 17, 2010 in Oceanside. Born in Redondo Beach, CA, Ali was 84 when he died. Ali had served in the Army during World War II. Ali was a 30 year employee of Dow Chemical in Torrance before his retirement. He loved to watch all types of sporting events, especially baseball. Ali is survived by his brother, Nicholas (Guadalupe) De Anda of Redondo Beach, CA; sister, Anita Herredia of Torrance, CA; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio and Jesus De Anda; and his wife of 63 years, Angelina. A gathering of family & friends will be held at the Rice Mortuary Chapel in Torrance on Wednesday June 23, 2010 from 5 to 9pm with a Rosary beginning at 7pm. The Service will be held in the Rice Chapel the next day at 10am. Motorcycle escorts will lead to the graveside at Pacific Crest Cemetery in Redondo Beach. A reception follows at the Rice Lighthouse Room in Torrance until 3pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cancer Society.
