Albert Sargent, a 57 year resident of Torrance, passed away on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 in Torrance, CA. A graduate of Torrance High, Al was 72 when he died. A lifelong Episcopalian, he was a longtime member of St. Francis Church in Palos Verdes Estates where he sang in the choir and helped out wherever he could. Al spent his career as a machinist and CNC programmer. From 1963-67, he served in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Hornet. Al loved his walks around the neighborhood, being an avid fan of auto racing, trains, music, and spending time with family and friends. Al is survived by his wife of 47 years, Carla Sargent of Torrance, CA; daughter, Laura Sargent and her husband, Jim Marlow of Seattle, WA; family and friends, all of whom will miss his bright smile and storytelling. The Memorial Service will be held at St. Francis Episcopal Church in Palos Verdes Estates on Saturday March 2, 2013 at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Camp Stevens, P.O. Box 2320, Julian, CA 90236 or St. Francis Church.
