Richard Joseph Perez Jaimes
December 6, 1929-January 20, 2020
Richard Joseph Perez Jaimes of Redondo Beach, California was born December 6, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois, and went home to the Lord on January 20, 2020 surrounded by his loved ones.
Richard was the youngest member of one of the many thousands of "Route 66" families who migrated West in search of a better life in the midst of the Great Depression. He was raised in Carpinteria, California along with two brothers and three sisters by hard-working immigrant parents, Melquiades and Florentina, who valued family above all else.
Richard served our country with pride in the United States Army (Ninth Corps attached to 25th Infantry) during the Korean War. Richard is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 65 years, Josephine Rodriguez Jaimes of Redondo Beach, by his daughters Rosemarie Covarrubia and Roberta Ann Gerarde, and his sons Richard Anthony Jaimes and Robert Jon Jaimes. Richard is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Richard is remembered for his love for his family, for his kind, humorous and peaceful nature and for his passion for the outdoors, especially trout fishing in the cold, clear streams, rivers and lakes of the rugged Sierra and Eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains.
All who knew and loved him are invited to a Celebration of Richard's Life on May 3, 2020 at the Point Vicente Interpretive Center in Rancho Palos Verdes CA. This sunset celebration will begin at 5PM. On behalf of the Jaimes Family, we hope you can join us. Please RSVP by April 20, 2020 to Richard A. Jaimes at 424-731-3414 or by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
