Leslie (Les) Houy passed away, with close family and friends at his side in Lomita, California. Not by plan but possibly by a higher power and a calling of his spirit on the very anniversary of his wife’s passing, Les is now reunited with Maria and all of the family, friends and pets they cared for and loved while on this earth.
Born in Los Angeles, California, Les was a longtime resident of Manhattan Beach and a proud Mustang and 1965 graduate of Mira Costa High School. After graduation Les went on to work for Western Airlines, and retired with Delta Airlines in 2012 after 40 years of service. The close friendships that came with his time at the airlines remained with him throughout the years, he was always grateful to the end for each and every one of them.
Les was well liked by his neighbors, and always offered a smile and a helping hand when and where it was required or needed. His beloved community and friends of many years will surely miss him.
Those who experience the loss of a loved ones passing may suffer in the process. Les would never want nor would he expect anyone to neither feel nor experience such pain or loss. That was the kind of husband, father, family member and friend he was. He would always put others before himself.
Survived by his daughter Kristen Houy Fredricks and granddaughter Krislyn. Les is also survived by his loving immediate family of recent years:Nicholas Pepper and spouse Miriam along with his beloved grandchildren Matthew and Olivia. Les is surely watching over them now as he proudly did in life Xavier Quiroz and Michael Quiroz and families, his loving brothers- in-law and his close friend of many years Deborah McLean.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday September 7 at 11:00 am, at Lighthouse Memorials & Receptions - Rice Center with a reception to immediately following at 5310 Torrance Blvd, Torrance CA 90503.
His final resting place will be outside of Long Beach Harbor, where his ashes will join with Maria’s in remembrance and loving perpetuity.
