Brad Toberman was born in North Hollywood to Luanne and Ernie Toberman on December 2, 1953. He was an identical twin to Randy and older brother to Todd.
The boys had a childhood full of adventure, magic and wonder. Luanne and Ernie took them camping and waterskiing up and down California with a close knit circle of best friends and their children. Deep and abiding friendships born out of those idyllic times continue to today.
Brad graduated from Van Nuys High School and went on to earn a Bachelor of science degree in Environmental Studies at UCSB in 1976.
He was pulled into the world of live television sports remotes and studio production in 1979. Brad started at VTE pulling cables and doing video control. His career really took off at Financial News Network in 1982. He became a technical director and quickly scooted into the director's chair. Brad moved on to Prime Ticket, Extra, Fox, Tennis Channel and PAC-12. He made many lifelong friends at all those stops and he mentored many people along the way. His co-workers truly loved and admired him. They say he made work fun.
Brad met his wife, Mimi, at FNN in 1982. They were married in 1986 . Sons Joshua and Zachary soon followed. Brad moved to Manhattan Beach in 1979 and he fell in love with all it has to offer; running on the Strand, beach volleyball and surfing. He instilled that love in his boys.
Brad and Mimi also have a townhouse in Mammoth. Brad and his brothers began skiing there when they were teenagers. He never lost his passion for the sport. He got Josh and Zach on skis as soon as they were old enough for ski school. The 3 of them spent countless hours on the runs. Brad also loved hiking in the Sierra. His sense of adventure meant you always had to keep going to see what is around the next bend.
There will be a celebration of Brad's life on the north side of the Manhattan Beach Pier on 12/15 at 2pm.
